LIBRARIES

National Legislative Week

At National Legislative Week, I represented Utah libraries along with two fellow delegates—the Utah State Librarian and Utah Library Association President. Together, we visited the Washington D.C. offices of Utah Senator Hatch and other elected representatives and engaged in discussions that increased focus on Utah library issues and priorities.

Statewide Campaigns & Other Activities

Together with selected Utah library leaders, I co-led a statewide campaign to raise awareness of the importance of libraries. Our campaign successfully culminated with Governor Huntsman’s signing of the concurrent resolution designating Love Your Library week in Utah.

From 2007 to 2010, I directed statewide operations of the Utah Center for the Book, a state affiliate of the National Center for the Book at the Library of Congress. I established partnerships with institutions throughout the state and instituted the Center’s first strategic plans. In this capacity, I led campaigns and implemented programs that promote libraries, authorship, reading, and books throughout the state of Utah.
